Libby is a former Jehovah’s Witness who left Watchtower when she ended her marriage. She has over 20 years of experience supporting individuals in crisis and complex distress with her work with distress centres and victim services in Ontario, Canada. Libby is a Certified Life Coach with a private practice called Listening Tree Studio & Coaching in Belwood. After having spent nearly the first three decades of her life as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she decided to reclaim her birthright to spiritual autonomy and abandon the limiting beliefs she had inherited. As a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, she provides an educational program that has been known for almost 40 years to help grieving individuals attain therapeutic results. Death and divorce may be at the top of the list of reasons why people grieve, but there are over forty three identified types of losses that cause grief. Some of these include loss of trust, loss of faith, loss of health, loss of dreams, loss of childhood due to abuse, and the pain of loss following the end of relationships, as is much too common within cult survivors who experience ostracism from former friends, family members and loved ones. Marleen is a graduate from the University of Texas at San Antonio, she holds a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. In addition, she has graduate level studies in both adult learning and education, as well as graduate hours in community counseling. She is planning to complete a M.A. in Counseling in order to continue helping her community.
